Moroccan tourism reached a growth rate of 5.2% between 2018 and 2019
Foreign tourists' arrivals increased by 5.4%, while those of Moroccan expatriates rose by 5% in the same period, the source added.
The main tourism markets witnessed an increase in arrivals during this period, particularly Italy (+9%), the United Kingdom (+8%), France (+6%), Spain (+6%), Germany (+5%) and the Netherlands (+4%), the Observatory pointed out in its latest note on tourism statistics in Morocco.
Nights spent at classified hotels posted a rise of 5% in 2019, said the same source, noting that the two tourist destinations of Marrakech and Agadir generated 57% of hotel nights in 2019.
Marrakech and Agadir posted increases of 6% and 3%, respectively, said the Observatory, noting that Tangier (+8%), Casablanca (+5%), Rabat (+1%) and Fez (+2%) also posted good performances.
