Kick-off of the Foreign Ministers' Preparatory Meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Summit Level in Jeddah

The meeting of the Council of the Arab League at the level of foreign ministers began on May 17, 2023 in Jeddah, as a prelude to the 32nd Arab Summit to be held on May 19.

 
Morocco is represented at this meeting by a delegation chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita.
The Moroccan delegation also includes Morocco's ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative of the Kingdom to the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Tazi, Morocco's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mr. Mustapha Mansouri, the director of the Middle East, Gulf, Arab and Islamic Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Fouad Akhrif, the head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations division, Mr. Abdelali Jahed, as well as deputy permanent representative of Morocco to the Arab League, Mr. Hicham Ould Sallay.
Prior to the meeting, a number of ministerial committees responsible for following up a number of issues were convened, including the committee for the follow-up of the implementation of the decisions and commitments of the previous Arab Summit. The latter discussed the follow-up of the implementation of decisions and recommendations issued by the last Arab summit and the commitment of countries to implement those decisions.
In the same vein, the meeting of the Arab ministerial committee to follow up the development of the crisis with Iran headed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt as members, in addition to the Secretary General of the Arab League, was held.
A meeting of the open-ended Arab ministerial committee in support of Palestine was also convened. Composed of Morocco, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Qatar, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria and Mauritania, as well as the Secretary General of the Arab League, this committee aims to follow up on Arab action on the international scene in support of the Palestinian cause and to work for Palestine's accession to the United Nations. It also aims to support Palestine politically and economically on the international scene.
It is expected that the Arab ministerial meeting will discuss the agenda of the Arab Summit and the draft resolutions to be adopted by the Summit.
